We all have our unique typing preferences, that’s why we went the extra mile to make the K3 the world's first hot-swappable low profile Optical switch keyboard. We’ve implemented a MX-styled stem and stabilizers, and conducted numerous design iterations of the keyboard structure.
You can easily hot-swap every Optical switch in a few seconds to customize your typing experience on the K3 without soldering. *Hot-swappable feature is available for low profile Keychron Optical switch version only.
MECHANICAL OR OPTICAL?
We’ve overcome different technical challenges to redesign both the low profile Gateron Mechanical switch and low profile Keychron Optical switch in order to elevate the typing experience while enhancing its reliability on the ultra-slim keyboard.
Durable low profile Gateron Mechanical switch with a 50 million keystroke lifespan to provide an unrivaled tactile responsiveness
With the MX-styled stem housing and ultra-low latency, the low profile Keychron Optical switches are crafted for typists or gamers who want to type at lightning speed with a lifespan much greater than industry standards.
*Low profile Keychron Optical switch keyboard is not compatible with any conventional mx style mechanical switch.
0.2ms Ultra-low latency
70 million keystroke lifespan
We’ve spent over a year developing and implementing a MX-styled stem on both the low profile switches for the K3 as well as stabilizers on the big keys like the space bar, left Shift, backspace and Enter key.
It will improve reliability, deliver better typing experiences, and may potentially pave the way for other keycap manufacturers to launch alternative keycaps.
Crafted for productivity, the K3’s 75% layout is a compact version of tenkeyless layout. It allows users access to all the essential multimedia and function keys, but with a smaller footprint.
18 TYPES OF RGB
Comes with various RGB backlight settings, you can adjust the keyboard brightness to sync with your mood. Various backlight patterns are also available on the K3 White Backlight version.

Customer ReviewsWrite a review
I bought the K3 with RGB and hotswappable keycaps and I'm enjoying the typing experience very much so far. The finish on the keys feels nice to type on, and the quick actuation is perfect for someone like me who is used to typing and doing work on a laptop keyboard. With the black switches, this keyboard is extremely quiet. Some of the longer keys like the spacebar, enter, or left shift have some noticeable rattle to them that gets more and more apparent the more keystrokes they go through - you can fix this easily with some keyboard lube on the stabilizers if it bothers you.
So why 4 stars and not 5?
Well, I use this keyboard wired to my desktop and the USB-C charging port has an obnoxiously bright LED that is unfortunately placed directly under the F8 or Play/Pause multimedia key. When charging, this light massively overpowers the built-in RGB (or white LED backlights on the non-RGB version of the board, I'd imagine) of the F8 key. I have found no documentation online or within any of the provided manuals that allow for any customization of the always-on charging light. Its green glow shines through the base of the see-through key switch which shines against the baseplate as well as the other keycaps.
Hopefully Keychron releases a firmware update that allows us to disable this annoying charging light.
If you only ever plan to use this keyboard unplugged through Bluetooth, then you can consider this review as 5 stars - the keyboard has a wonderful typing experience and has impressive battery life. But if you are planning to ever use this keyboard in a wired state, know that you might be getting some extra 'G' in your RGB.
I purchased the K3 with Blue Mech switches. Arrived two day earlier than expected (very nice). This is the best keyboard I have used that is designed for the Mac. Switched from a more expensive brand to the smaller and more space efficient keyboard. Oh yeah; buy the case when you get the keyboard.
After reading the product description, this keyboard sounded like everything I was looking for for my workstation (I do technical support and lots of writing). I particularly love how the keycaps are wide and flat, but still slightly concave. An unexpected issue with previous mechanical keyboards I own, is that the tops of the keycaps are too small and narrow, which causes my fingers to slip. So having these larger and flatter keycaps has been a really nice change.
I also appreciate that a more subtle, darker Escape key is included in the package. While I enjoy the default Escape key, which is orange, the backlight does light up the entire top half of the key, which I find to be distracting — my only minor complaint about the design. Other pluses include the option for USB-C for charging and a wired connection, and a space bar that's ever so slightly softer than the other keys, which is a nice touch. One caveat: I haven't tested the keyboard in Bluetooth mode yet, so I can't attest to battery life or the stability of the wireless connection. But almost all other mechanical keyboards are wired anyway, so while it's a nice-to-have, it isn't a must-have feature I was on the lookout for.
I have a K6 and I really like that one. Good layout, great build quality, good components, good switches. But I didn't like the missing dedicated delete key, the placement of the "back lighting" key, missing F-keys. It was just little things that kept it from being perfect.
The K3 took what I loved about the K6 and improved everything I didn't.
The layout is great and feels really natural. I don't feel like any keys are cumbersome even for coding. I really like the addition of the F-keys without adding any horizontal width.
The total height of the board is amazingly thin and I love it. The horizontal width is really nice - allows me to keep gamepads and other equipment on the desk more easily.
Hot-swap. Do I need to pull switches that often? No, but this is a really nice feature in case something catastrophic happens, like with me and my K6 and a cup of coffee. I spilled into the case. So I unplugged it and quickly disassembled the board, ensuring liquid never made it to the chips. Several switches were "coffee-logged". Thanks to hot-swappable switches, I was able to pull and replace all the affected keys, dry off all the parts, reassemble, plug in and get on with my day.
Finally, the best part, the switches! I bought this with the optical orange hot-swap switches and they immediately became my favorites switches. The travel, the resistance, the sound the tactile feedback are perfect. The travel is shorter, but I find that I really like it. The travel feels more "precise" to me and makes me less likely to bang on the keys. The resistance, the springs are a little tougher but I like that they prevent me from bottoming out quite so bad. The sound is a sharp but quiet click--enough to hear easily, but not announce your typing to the whole office. The tactile feedback is perfect. It feels very sharp and helps prevent bottoming out. I'm sure the blues share many of these qualities, and I'm sure I'd like those as well.
It's so thin and light and impressive. Packed with features. I can't believe the price they're able to sell it for.
Coming from the K1 V4, this is a HUGE upgrade. To be honest, I never did like the typing experience on the K1 v4, but this is soo satisfying. I got the hot swappable black switches and they are accurate in their force actuation. Was a bit surprised the back is plastic and not metal, but it make sense for the chassis to be lightweight as this is designed more for portable use.
