How to Use SimpleHIDWrite to Test Your Keychron QMK Keyboard

PageFly |

Please Note

  • This method only applies when a Keychron QMK keyboard is connected to a Windows computer.
  • If your Keychron QMK keyboard is not recognized by Keychron Launcher or VIA when connected to certain Windows PCs, but works fine on other computers, you can use SimpleHIDWrite to test HID-class devices.

Please Follow The Instructions:

1. First, connect your QMK keyboard to the Windows computer with recognition issues, and download the SimpleHIDWrite utility. Here is the link: http://janaxelson.com/hidpage.htm

  • Note: The page may display an 'insecure' warning. Rest assured, you can safely download SimpleHIDWrite from the webpage.
  • You can find the download link at the location shown in the image below.

2. Open the SimpleHIDWrite and check the devices connected to your keyboard.

For example, in the below image, the keyboard's name “V5 Max” appeared six times in the list, indicating that the six interfaces of the keyboard has been correctly identified by the system.

3. Next, click each "V5 Max" to see if you can find an interface with multiple input boxes, as shown in the image below.

4. Then, write the data as below steps to check if there is any response.

Step 1: Enter “1” in the first input field.

Step 2: Click the “Write” button.

5. If the keyboard responds, the following image will be displayed, indicating that the interface is functioning normally. Now, your keyboard should be able to be successfully recognized by Keychron Launcher or VIA.
