Keychron M3 Wireless Mouse

*Update* I originally had this rating at a 2 star, but noticed Keychron’s website would not show it. So, like what another reviewer did, I am changing the star rating to see if the site will let this review through… so ***IGNORE THE STAR RATING***

I really want to give this mouse a good review... and if I was only giving a rating based off of when the mouse fully worked, it would be 5 stars. However, after about a year of usage (and ironically RIGHT when the manufacturer warranty ran out) my mouse started experiencing weird glitches. The 2.4GH mode no longer connected and no matter what I did the scroll wheel would not flash green. I reached out to Keychron to inquire about this and they said there was nothing they could do since the warranty ran out. That's fair. But I started researching and it seems like other people are having the same issue. One person claimed that the issue was the plastic adapter for the switch inside the bottom of the mouse actually mashes the switch up in on itself, which can cause issues with the copper contacts, rendering the mouse's ability to switch modes useless. This sounds a lot like my issue, because every-so-often, the mouse will be usable in 2.4GH for a very short amount of time if I test it, but it is always super inconsistent (kind of like if the connector was temporarily realigned or something). I would really hope Keychron would do something to rectify the situation if this is a larger issue than just a few defective models (which it seems like it is), but I guess there's really nothing I can do as a consumer since this started happening right after the warranty ran out. I would say I'll just buy a replacement but a $60-70 mouse SHOULD NOT just stop functioning after a year. I have continued to try to get usage out of it from the BT mode, but now that is having issues too and won't connect. While my replacement mouse will not come from Keychron, I can hope that they have realized whatever issues some parts of this mouse may have and have fixed it in newer productions of it so others won't be plagued by these ongoing issues I have had.

**Update** The mouse did pair to my computer again this morning for about 10 mins before dropping. I got it to re-pair 2 more times, but both times it was extremely laggy and quickly dropped connection again. It would not re-pair after that. I also noticed that the Keychron website did not publish my 1 star review but immediately published my 5 star review of the keyboard I purchased with the mouse that was posted AFTER the low review on the mouse, so I am upgrading the stars to see if this will get through. Makes me wonder how many other low ratings for this mouse are being hidden to influence buyers since connectivity issues seem to be pretty common after looking around on Reddit for tips on how to make this mouse work.

I was able to get this mouse to pair with my M3 Macbook Pro via bluetooth once and it worked fairly well while it was paired. I walked away from my computer for lunch and the mouse went to sleep to save battery as expected, but I haven't been able to get it to repair again. My OS is up to date, I tried restarting my computer, resetting the mouse back to factory settings, etc. I "forgot" the device from my bluetooth list to attempt re-pairing it and while the mouse shows that it is in pairing mode, it will not show up on my list of nearby devices. The keyboard I purchased at the same time connects no problem when I wake it up, as well as several other bluetooth devices that I tested to make sure it wasn't a problem with my computer. I have put in a support ticket and am waiting for a response - I'll update my review if we are able to get this fixed.

The people complaining in the reviews are complaining too much about unnecessary specifics. If they want something amazing, spend $100 on a super advanced mouse. For the price, this mouse is amazing.

I can switch between my computer and my iPad easily and quickly by using the Bluetooth mode on my iPad and the little plug-in thing on my laptop. The software seems a bit odd, but it is effortless to understand and use. The little user manual is short and brief, and super helpful. I got my mouse working 5 minutes out of the box. Perfect for the price.

The Keychron M3 is a light and fast mouse. It looks cool and feels comfortable in my hands. The downside of it is its quality, price, and some bugs. The RGB light and the left and right buttons sometimes crack open. My USB-C 2.4G receiver also fell apart. When I connect my mouse to the Mac software, the lights at the bottom will not light up until I factory set it. But the most important part is that I cannot drag-click or do other speed clicks on this mouse even if I set the debounce time to 0. The left and right buttons also require some force to press down, so it is not ideal for butterfly clicking.

I got this for work so I use it 8-10hrs a day. Im using the wireless dongle it came with for the best sampling rates and it's very smooth. The battery seems to last quite a few days and sleep mode seems to not drain the battery since it I can leave it for a week and its still charged up. I do wish there was a battery indicator for MacOS but it at least turns read when the battery is low.

It feels good in the hand and is weighted perfectly for me, especially with the weight at the bottom.
