I used a "das keyboard" with brown switches for programming and gaming. Until now I have tested the keychron k2 for 2-3 weeks. the build quality is really good. (I bought the version with the metal frame and I guess it is worth it).
the rgb lighting is really good and I love the very quick BT connection. USB C port is placed good and the switching between Mac and Win, which I do a lot, is really easy.
Only the switches for changing the modes (Win/Mac and Cable/Off/BT) are a little hard to switch. Maybe the switches will get lose over time. And I would also recommend using a palm rest because the keyboard is pretty high.
- BT (connection speed and 3 devices)
- Usb C
- Mechanical Switches (no brainer. In my case Red switches, lovely)
- Build quality (easily comparable to "das Keyboard" even tho the bottom is plastic. I use the version with metal frame)
- RGB lighting (love the available programs)
- You can use it with WIN and MAC layout!!!
- You should use a palm rest IMHO. Especially if you want to use it while standing
- The switches for changing the modes Win/Mac or Cable/Off/BT are a little hard to change. But it's ok to be honest.
I can recommend the keychron k2.
Maybe you want to check out the K6 without the Function keys (even smaller) or the K3 which is the slim version of the keyboard (better to take it with you)
Compact, neat with MacOS and Windows/Linux compatibility. Very practical.
Switches and keys are of very good quality.
ISO-DE option very appreciated, the dream for me would be a CH layout :)
The only small problem encountered: with the automatic sleep mode, it sometimes requires the use of the switch to reestablish the BT connection.
I never used mechanical keybords before and I also was „Team silent and slim“ but through a friend I got really into mechanical keyboards. The K2 is one of the most used items in my household now since I work 100% remotely. And I love it!
One of the best mechanical keyboards for the Mac world. Haven't found something comparable which is mechanical and has german layout.
Amazing feel. Such a high Quality for such a low price. Happy to have one of the last german layouts :D
It would be perfect if they would lube the switches in the first Place!
